Gravel Ridge Fire Department

Location:  Sherwood, PULASKI COUNTY, Arkansas (LITTLE ROCK MSA)

POPULATION SERVED:  approx.  26,400 (2005 Census)                 

RESPONSE AREA:  14 square miles

The Gravel Ridge Fire Department is a combination Fire Department, consisting of full time, part time, and pay-per-call firefighters.  Many firefighters are EMT-B’s, EMT-P’s, Hazmat Technicians, and Emergency Managers. 

GRFD operates two Engine Companies (E71 & E75), a Heavy Rescue Company (R73), a Brush Company(B76), a Squad Company (SQ74) and a Rescue Boat (WR77). 

The Gravel Ridge Fire Department and the Sherwood Fire Department provide Fire/Rescue services to the City of Sherwood and the surrounding area. The two departments operate out of four stations.  All Fire Stations are manned around the clock.

OPEN BURNING IS NOT ALLOWED INSIDE THE CITY LIMITS OF SHERWOOD WITHOUT A PERMIT ISSUED BY THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT.  PERMITS MAY BE ISSUED FOR LAND CLEARING ONLY. (Sherwood City Ordinance 1317, 1 Jan 1997)

 

BURNING  OF TRASH, TIRES, LUMBER, OR OTHER PROCESSED MATERIALS, INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS IS A VIOLATION OF THE STATE CLEAN AIR ACT AND IS PUNISHABLE BY FINE(S).  (Arkansas Code 8-4-310, 8-6-204, 8-6-1702, 8-6-1703).
